Ku‘iwalu is a consulting company that specializes in
building community support for economic development projects.
Our name in Hawaiian means “to connect the eight islands.” We
work closely with our clients to understand their concerns,
identify their needs and provide them with comprehensive services
in a timely and professional manner. The Ku‘iwalu Team
has decades of experience in land and cultural resource services,
community-based planning and consultation, public hearing processes,
crisis management, community development and facilitation,
and government relations. |
Our clients include Sandwich Isles Communications, Inc.,
a rural telephone company building a statewide network, the
Office of Hawaiian Affairs, an Ali‘i land trust, a
community development company, and the Kaho‘olawe Island
Reserve Commission.
Our expertise is in the area of community outreach and
community development building, particularly with native
Hawaiian communities. We also provide valuable consultation
services in the area of cultural resource services. Our collective
and extensive experience working with Section 106 of the
National Historic Preservation Act and Hawai‘i Revised
Statutes, Chapter 6E (related to historic preservation and
protection and preservation of native Hawaiian burials) enables
us to provide our clients the most efficient and effective
means of addressing these very sensitive cultural issues.
The Ku‘iwalu Team has a strong professional commitment
to building bridges between community interests, government
regulators, and development interests. Similarly, the Ku‘iwalu
Team members have a strong personal commitment to supporting
public interest efforts as collectively (in the past and
present) they serve on over twenty (20) non-profit boards
that provide relevant and necessary services to the people
of this State. |
